Newly discovered blogs - Presentation Zen, dedicated to all things related to, obviously, presentations. Metadata, is another one in a scarce field of condensed matter physics blogs.
Nature featured "where are they now" section about former cheats. I personally think the whole korean cloning and Schoen scandals are just tips of the iceberg. If anything, the system seems to work in those cases.
But science relies on reproducing old results, so you can fool some people most of the time, or most people some of the time, but in the end it's going to come out.
I wonder if publications in Nature and Science have more fraud than those in, say, Physica B where one does not need to exaggerate one's claims to get manuscript accepted. Exaggeration is a problem that is not on the same scale as outright cheating a-la Schoen, but still is an annoying problem. I think we all know of many examples of unsubstantiated claims, whether in papers or presentations. Zachary Fisk was quoted in Nature or Science recently as saying that he trusts the hard data more than interpretation of the data.
This is also the reason why I dislike "Future research" section of many talks. While it's nice to know where the research is going, it typically is the area where you can promise a quantum computer or cure for cancer without anyone holding you to your words 10 years later.
A few more randomly chosen news:
Women like men more if other women are smiling at them.
Aging and glassy relaxation in SC vortices
Psychology of penalty kicks
Odor recognition via quantum tunneling
New rules for league play
Finally, after some news sources reported problems with US continued resolution funding, there was very little mention of the dire state that it puts physical sciences research.
